So I went to Indianapolis visit hubby’s extended family in Mike pence’s home town.(Columbus) T he place is deep deep solid red (trump stickers everywhere) and there are more churches and corn fields than people. No one has refused us service so far because Jesus. Some nice architecture (Eero Saarinen did some work here).

Our rental is a GMC  Arcadia. Car is gutless (base trim) but comfortable on the highways. I can’t find a single interesting car on the road since I got here.

“I can’t find a single interesting car on the road since I got here.”

That's because you're in Columbus.  State Fair is going on now in Indy, so you'll have to drive north to see interesting.

And interesting cars, yeah, I’ve suspected since joining Jalopnik that we’ re in a bit of a dead zone here based on what others talk about. I only spot something interesting once every several weeks, but I’m also not good at identification, so I may simply be oblivious.

Friend of mine in Indy owns a few JDMs, I’ve seen a Hudson Hornet and a few classic SUVs, and the north side (Carmel) has more money than God so there are some overpriced baubles there.

I see you went to Zaharakos. That is a good stop.

...Now I am hungry for Apna Kitchen, Yats, and Puccini’s Pizza. There is a lot of good food in that small town.

I really liked Zwanzig’s Pizza and Diesel Oil Stout beer from the Columbus power bar, and Bubba Blue’s Barbaque was really great sadly they are closed now.

Columbus is actually okay for cars. Some of the engineers for Cummins will drive interesting cars you’d see them in the employee parking lot or more likely the garage.

I’ll try to keep an eye out when I’m in Columbus, but that’s pretty rare. Drove down for the Bartholomew County Fair, but that was only my second visit to the city in the last 2-3 years.

I did see a couple of Miatas on the road including one that has a roll bar on 64 coming back from Huber’s.

They are afraid of attractive cars because it might give them sexual feelings.

I would never venture that far into red territory. You are a braver man than I.

I never fully understood muscle cars till I had to regularly travel the midwest. “oh handling and braking don’t matter”
